Australian market "extremely stable"

Increasing numbers of British investors are looking at a land Down Under, according to property experts.
With a renowned history of emigration, the Australian property market has maintained a healthy growth level and UK buyers considering moving into the overseas housing arena should view Australia as a safe bet.
Jeremy Knight, of property consultants Knight Knox International, said that though Perth and Sydney had experienced price rises, there were still bargains to be had.
"The main one now is Adelaide, because it hasn't had its huge growth which means that prices are still cheap. It hasn't had its huge boom years, so on that basis it's the best one to go for."
He added that investment in Australian property was virtually risk-free:
"It's very tax-efficient [and] it's extremely secure - you can have full ownership, as a foreigner, on new properties.
"In the past it has shown moderate sustained growth with no drops. Because there has always been migration into Australia, you don't tend to get the market where it will just drop of its own accord."
A recent survey by Bank of Scotland International showed that Australia was the popular destination for British citizens considering emigration.
