France 'has the world's highest living standards'

Expatriates who set up home in France are enjoying the best living standards in the world, according to a new study.
Research by International Living compared various criteria in 192 different countries, including economic performance, living costs and civil liberties.
France was given full marks for lifestyle indicators such as safety, the level of freedom people enjoy and the quality of its healthcare provision.
In addition, the country's leisure and cultural facilities were ranked second in the world at 98 per cent.
This helped it to secure an overall total of 85 per cent - more than anywhere else in the world.
The findings will be of interest to people who are considering purchasing a property in France, especially expats who are looking to live there full-time.
Owners of French property were recently boosted by figures from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors which showed that house prices went up by three per cent last year.
