France attracts American visitors

Consumers from the US are not letting the weak dollar put them off taking trips to western Europe, according to new research.
A study by Visa found that the majority of Americans are just as willing to venture overseas as they were last year, reports the Associated Press.
Western Europe was identified as one of the main hotspots for this group, with France in particular proving to be an appealing choice.
This means that holidaymakers from the US are not letting less than favourable exchange rates influence their decisions.
Indeed, a fifth of those who stated that they intend to go abroad within the next year said they are planning an expensive trip.
Paul Wilke, spokesperson for Visa, commented: "While travel close to home remains strong, what's interesting [is] travel destinations like western Europe are still popular."
According to research by International Living, France currently offers the best living standards in the world.
The conclusion was drawn after the group compared various criteria in 192 different countries, including economic performance, living costs and civil liberties.
