Experts report increased interest in foreign property

Industry specialists have reported an increase in the number of Britons who are interested in purchasing a foreign property.
Assetz Finance said that in the last few months, it has seen a ten per cent rise in the amount of enquiries into buying abroad.
Spain and France were highlighted as particularly popular locations, which the firm said is partly because consumers are benefiting from a greater range of mortgage products.
Katy Hepworth, overseas mortgage manager at Assetz, commented: "A growing number of French and Spanish lenders [are] now widening their offerings."
She added that this has helped make owning a foreign property an "increasingly accessible option" for people who want to change their lifestyle.
According to the Office for National Statistics, more than 200,000 UK nationals moved abroad during 2006.
The organisation highlighted France and Spain as two of the most popular destinations for British expats.
