Eurostar 'should service north of England'

People living in the north of England should have better access to the Eurostar network, according to a Liberal Democrat councillor.
Rod Fletcher stated that a high-speed rail link to London needed to be introduced in order to allow people to get to the Channel Tunnel quickly and easily.
He also suggested that some trains on the West Coast Mainline service the Eurostar station at St Pancras International instead of London Euston.
Councillor Flethcher commented: "The few minutes gained by most Virgin Pendolino services ceasing to stop at Crewe will be negated by passengers having to travel on foot or by taxi between Euston and St Pancras."
He added that this would also help combat the growth of cheap airlines, therefore helping the environment by helping people reduce their carbon footprint.
St Pancras station was recently renovated in order to handle Eurostar services to cities such as Paris and Brussels.
