Britons take driving holidays in France

More and more people in the UK are choosing to take driving holidays to France, according to new figures.
Research by American Express found that one in ten Britons are thinking of taking their family on a driving holiday to Europe this summer.
The organisation said this is partly due to a renewed interest in travelling by ferry, as it offers much quicker check-in times than air travel.
Furthermore, it stated that being able to take a car overseas allows leisure travellers to enjoy a greater degree of freedom while on holiday.
Chris Rolland, head of American Express Insurance Services, commented: "Long working days means that they don't want to waste any more time than necessary with long check-in times."
The findings could be of interest to people who own rental accommodation in places such as northern France, as this is easily accessible to ferry travellers and motorists.
France has recently attracted extra attention from British property investors as a result of a new service from Eurostar.
According to currency specialist HiFX, this has led to some people looking at moving to France and commuting to work in the UK.
