More Britons going on short breaks to long-haul destinations

A greater number of holidaymakers are choosing to take short breaks in long-haul destinations, experts have said.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) said the demand for brief trips to more distant countries was growing.
This was partially attributed to the aviation sector, as many airlines were offering comfortable and affordable passage to foreign countries.
However, the proximity of long-haul destinations was still said to be an issue for people enjoying short breaks abroad.
An ABTA spokesperson commented: "I have heard of short breaks to Cairo, where people go for a long weekend."
However, she said that flying to countries such as Australia was "not that appealing" for those who wanted a brief holiday.
The popularity of short breaks could open up new opportunities to rental investors in these countries.
According to the Mirror, many people are choosing to invest in "far-flung destinations" in response to their growing popularity among holidaymakers.
