UK costs drive Brits abroad

Britons interested in investment property in the Middle East and elsewhere are commonly inspired by a desire for cheaper living costs, new research suggests.
Over half of respondents to a survey from Alliance and Leicester stated their move abroad was informed by the potential for a lower cost of living.
A further 40 per cent said that they were emigrating to start a new life.
Simon Hull, international director of Alliance and Leicester, commented: "For the many people in a hurry to start a new life abroad, it is important to properly prepare for relocation.
"Those considering a move need to think about their financial arrangements, legal rights and other practicalities before waving goodbye to Britain."
He added: "Often those tasks that appear most daunting, such as sorting out savings, are actually very straightforward."
The survey revealed that the Middle East was emerging as a popular investment destination, with 21 per cent of respondents choosing to live there.
Australia and the US were found to be the most popular emigration locations.
