"Strong incentive" to buy in Dubai

Strong incentive to buy in Dubai

The value of investment property in Dubai is set to receive a boost, as new property laws encourage increased commercial investment.

Inspired by English property legislation, the Real Property Law guarantees ownership of freehold land, while the Strata Title Law improves the administrative side of building management.

The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) aims to develop "the same stature as New York, London and Hong Kong", according to its website, and a growing influx of business capital is likely to stimulate price increases in the country's property market.

According to Rhiannon Williams, director of property consultants Amberlamb, fantastic rental returns are expected from commercial property, thanks to the new rules.

"Property in Dubai…makes for a fantastic diversification," she said, "and what's more, yields can often be more attractive when you factor in things such as tenant credibility and accountability as well as the long term and sustainable returns you can often achieve with commercial space."

Dubai's burgeoning economy has seen the tiny emirate make a real splash on the world stage and buy-to-let investment could prove very lucrative.

As Ms Williams confirmed, "there is a chance now to invest and buy in to real property within this, the very newest and [most] advanced international financial centre in the world, you can probably imagine just how exciting this is as an investment opportunity".
