Dubai popular with international holidaymakers

Consumers from Europe and Asia are increasingly choosing to take holidays in Dubai, analysts have stated.
According to a report by Globalysis, the emirate's leisure and retail facilities, along with its luxury accommodation, are proving to be highly attractive to foreign holidaymakers.
The organisation said Dubai has become especially popular with "globally-minded" tourists, as well as "sophisticated" business travellers.
As a result, it has predicted an eight per cent upturn in the number of foreign arrivals this year.
Jason Pereira, senior associate at Globalysis, commented: "The performance of Dubai's travel and leisure sector in 2008 has been favourable and the outlook moving forward remains bright."
He added that this year's visitor numbers are likely to be boosted by the recent launch of extra flights to Dubai from overseas, as well as its growing international profile.
According to Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, seven million holidaymakers reserved accommodation in the region during 2007.
