Dubai "a happening place"

Though it faces stiff competition from emerging eastern European destinations, the market for investment property in Dubai is alive and kicking, according to industry analysts.
Shahid Iqbal, a partner in Investors Provident, confirmed that marketing initiatives by the Dubai government had cemented a profitable future for the emirate's tourism and property sectors.
He confirmed that the sun-kissed paradise was continuing to attract new investors.
Development is the key to Dubai's success, he argued, saying: "As soon as you get into Dubai, you realise: 'Wow, it's just amazing what is going on here' the amount of construction and the amount of people that are coming in."
He continued "Even though the other markets have opened up and lots of people are looking at, say, the European market or even in the Far East as well, Dubai has definitely made its mark and it's going to be around for the next few years."
Though the emirate currently attracts around five million tourists per year, this is expected to increase to around 15 million by 2010.
