More visitors expected in Cyprus

Tourism authorities in Cyprus are predicting an increase in annual visitor numbers over the next few years.
Akis Kelepeshis, chairman of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA), stated that efforts to boost the tourism industry are meeting with some success, reports the Financial Mirror.
Speaking at this year's annual meeting of ACTA members, he said 2008 will see the beginning of a "steady increase" in tourist arrivals.
This means that demand for rental accommodation on the Mediterranean island is also likely to go up.
As a result, owners of an investment property in Cyprus should be in line to enjoy high occupancy rates and rental yields.
However, Mr Kelepheshis said more needs to be done in order to attract a greater number of visitors.
He commented: "We need to increase the advertising spend to promote Cyprus."
This comes after travel agent Lastminute.com revealed that the number of summer bookings for the island is 32 per cent up on the same time last year.
