Investors "comfy" in Cyprus

Brits interested in investment property in Cyprus are attracted by the island's retention of its character, according to market commentators.
Paul Tomlin, sales director of property consultants Buy Abroad, said that Cyprus has kept "its own charm", even as its profile as a tourist destination grows.
The island also had a reputation as a high-end location, one of many factors attracting property investors to its sunny shores.
Discussing the appeal of Cyprus, Mr Tomlin said: "I think it's a combination of everything. It has good climate, everybody feels comfy there because everyone speaks English, and they drive on the same side [of the road] as they do in the UK.
"With the legislation over there for buying land in southern Cyprus, most of the contracts are in English so people feel comfy with the legal system there."
Cypriot property prices are set to rise in 2008, as a value added tax scheme is introduced.
