Cyprus' tourist trade is 'flourishing'
The popularity of Cyprus as a holiday destination has been highlighted in a new media report.
Gulf Weekly stated that the island's tourist industry was "flourishing", as people were being drawn by natural features such as its good climate and pleasant scenery.
The publication added that Cyprus' historical and cultural attractions were also highly popular with visitors, leading to many choosing to buy holiday homes in desirable areas.
In addition, some were said to be cashing in on the island's tourist appeal by purchasing rental properties that could be let out to holidaymakers.
Gulf Weekly commented: "Cyprus is a perfect location for those looking for a holiday home, an investment opportunity or, as is increasingly the case on this lovely island, for a permanent residence."
The island was said to be a particularly good option for overseas investors because property prices were lower than those in many other European countries.
According to official figures cited by the Financial Mirror, the overall number of holidaymakers on the island rose by 6.4 per cent during the year to September 2007.
