Cyprus rental market set for boost

Cyprus's rental market could be given a boost by a new marketing drive.
The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) is targeting consumers in the UK in a bid to boost the number of holidaymakers on the Mediterranean island.
According to official data, Britons made up the largest proportion of foreign visitors last year, with more than 1.2 million choosing to go to the country.
This makes the UK a very important market for the CTO to tap into if they wish to make the Cypriot tourist trade sustainable.
Growth in the holiday industry could also have a number of positive consequences on the country's wider economy.
For example, the service sector is likely to benefit directly, while the increased need for tourist accommodation should boost the housing market and the construction trade.
Furthermore, demand for rental accommodation should go up significantly if the scheme is successful.
This comes after the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors highlighted Cyprus as one of Europe's fastest growing property markets.
