Cyprus 'may attract more tourists'

Overseas property investors in Cyprus could be set to benefit from a surge in the number of visitors.
A home-grown celebrity has been recruited by tourist authorities to help promote the Mediterranean island in other countries, reports the Financial Mirror.
Tennis star Marcos Baghdatis will act as the face of a multimedia advertising campaign, while he will also attend events such as travel fairs across the world.
The campaign is being organised by the Cyprus Tourist Organisation, which said this was the best way to capitalise on Baghdatis' international fame.
If the publicity drive is successful in encouraging more holidaymakers to visit Cyprus, this should lead to a number of economic benefits for the island.
The tourism industry will reap rewards directly, as will the construction and service sectors.
Meanwhile, rental investors in Cyprus will be likely to see higher occupancy rates and returns if their properties are in higher demand.
This comes after the Telegraph predicted that the island's recent entry into the euro could help attract more overseas property buyers from the UK.
