Christmas holidaymakers 'head for Cape Verde'

The Cape Verde islands are set to attract a large number of festive holidaymakers from the UK, new research has revealed.
According to Lastminute.com, many Britons are preparing to travel abroad over the Christmas season in order to avoid visiting relatives and in-laws.
The online travel agency highlighted Cape Verde as one of the most popular destinations, as it allowed visitors to enjoy warm weather during December.
Many were also said to be opting other "sun-drenched" destinations, such as Egypt and Dubai.
John Bevan, managing director of Lastminute.com, said: "It would appear Britons are opting out of the pressures of a family Christmas, which include having to visit both your own parents and the in-laws."
This comes after research by Co-operative Travel found that 3.3 million people from the UK were set to spend the festive season abroad - 11 per cent more than in 2006.
