Cape Verde's tourism growth is "phenomenal"

Cape Verde is set to be the hot new holiday destination next year, according to a media report.
The Essex Chronicle said that tourism in the west African archipelago had grown "phenomenally" in recent years and was likely to attract considerable interest in 2008.
Cape Verde was praised for offering a variety of attractions, such as good weather all year round and lots of leisure activities.
Figures cited by the newspaper showed that during the last seven years, tourist numbers have increased from 67,000 to 280,000.
The publication added that this year's overall number of visitors was likely to come to about 320,000.
Commenting on the group of islands, the Essex Chronicle said: "Tourists are not just tolerated but welcomed here."
The newspaper added that Cape Verde also offered the closest tropical islands to the UK and were accessible in five-and-a-half hours.
Earlier this year, the country's national airline TACV began providing direct flights between capital city Praia and London.
