Cape Verde 'highlights African progress'

Cape Verde's former president has praised the island's economic growth and success in recent years.
Speaking to the Hoya, Macarena Monteiro said the island had made considerable progress in many areas, such as health, education and its overall infrastructure.
In addition, he stated that Cape Verde was only the second country in the world to have been taken off a list of the world's least developed countries by the United Nations.
This, he stated, illustrated the changes that were currently taking place in Africa.
Mr Monteiro commented: "It is safe for me to say that Cape Verde is a country that has further validated the saying that Africa is a continent of growth."
The islands have now become internationally renowned as a good holiday destination, prompting the current administration to strengthen international links.
This follows a recent report from MacauHub which stated that the European commission had approved a document detailing the terms of Cape Verde securing special partnership status with the EU.
