Cape Verde building eco-developments

Property developers in Cape Verde are beginning to build properties that cater for the growing eco-tourism sector, it has been suggested.

According to Paul Collins, overseas property editor for BuyAssociation, there are a variety of different types of investment property in Cape Verde, including beach and golf resorts.

Eco-developments are also beginning to appear on the islands, Mr Collins said, suggesting that such properties are expected to become more popular.

The eco-tourism sector is expected to grow over the next few years as people become more "conscious of their carbon footprint", he commented.

"They will be looking to buy property in developments that do look after the environment around them," he added.

Earlier in the year, Mr Collins noted that 2007 was the first year that direct flights from the UK to Cape Verde were available.

People investing in the area are likely to benefit from the predicted increase in visitors travelling to the islands, he said.
