Investors told to get independent legal advice
Overseas property buyers have been advised to get independent legal advice before committing to a purchase.
Amanda Lamb, presenter of Channel 4's A Place in the Sun, said that prospective investors should not do anything that they would not do while buying a property at home.
Speaking to Female First, she stated that the biggest "horror stories" she had encountered involved people who had not taken legal advice or sought the view of a casual acquaintance instead of a professional.
Ms Lamb added that an expert opinion was particularly important for those who were investing in emerging markets such as Bulgaria and Romania.
She commented: "There is chance to make money in those countries but you just have to be careful if you do buy there that you get your good independent legal advice."
This comes after Steve Williams, British ambassador to Bulgaria, told the Sofia Echo that local people saw foreign investment in its property market as a positive development.
