Bulgarian off-plan properties 'not as good as existing housing stock'
People planning to buy property in Bulgaria have been advised to opt for existing housing stock instead of off-plan properties.
Balkan Holdings said that existing buildings were a better investment than their off-plan counterparts for a number of reasons.
Specifically, the firm stated that in some parts of the country, the available supply of off-plan properties was exceeding demand.
Chris Northam, managing director of Balkan Holdings, said that off-plan properties had developed "much too quickly".
He commented: "[Existing housing stock] is still relatively inexpensive compared to almost anywhere else in Europe."
"It is a better potential investment than off-plan properties."
Mr Northam added that by western standards, some existing houses were "ridiculously cheap".
According to a recent report by Green Life Property Development, British buyers accounted for one in five real estate deals in Bulgaria this year.
