Bulgaria has 'changed dramatically'

Bulgaria has experienced "dramatic" changes in the last 20 years, a leading diplomat has observed.
Steve Williams, British ambassador to the country, left his previous position at the embassy in 1987 and has now returned in his new role.
Speaking to the Sofia Echo, he highlighted many of the changes that have occurred during this period, such as its accession to the European Union.
He commented: "If somebody had said to me when I left that I would be returning to a country that would be a fully-fledged partner of the UK's both in the EU and in Nato, I would have found that simply inconceivable."
Mr Williams added that there were many visible signs of transformation in Bulgaria, such as the new terminal at Sofia Airport, vibrant commercial activity and a broad range of shops, services and leisure facilities.
This comes after VisitBulgaria.net stated that the country was continuing to grow in popularity as a holiday destination.
