Bulgaria aims to attract affluent visitors

The Bulgarian government is increasingly aiming to attract more affluent holidaymakers, a media outlet has stated.
According to AFP, authorities in the eastern European country are considering various ways of bringing in leisure travellers with more disposable income.
The news provider highlighted golf tourism as one area that is being exploited as part of this strategy.
Kancho Stoychev, who is opening a golf course in Balchik later this year, commented: "Golf tourism is extremely important for attracting the more affluent tourist."
He added that a typical holidaymaker tended to spend about £75 a day, whereas a fan of the sport could easily spend up to £375 instead.
This could prove to be a further boost to the country's economy and would also create demand for more high-quality accommodation in the major golfing destinations.
According to the Novinite news agency, the government is planning to unveil its golf development strategy next month.
