Coastal Areas
Golden Sands
Nature Park Setting
The thick deciduous forest of Zlatni Pyassatsi Nature Park provides the backdrop for Golden Sands resort.
In forested terraces the coastline slopes down to resort’s Blue Flag winning, 4km long, fine sandy beach.
With temperatures of 27oC the norm for July and August, it is the resort’s combination of setting, beach and climate that has long made it popular with holidaying eastern Europeans and now has many thousands of British, Irish and German tourists returning to it time and time again.
Extensive facilities
Golden Sands is the second largest resort along the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast after Sunny Beach.
Its extensive, modern facilities and excellent beach attracts the leading tour operators like First Choice looking to negotiate property rental deals.
The fact that it is set within a protected nature park also means that development here is limited, helping to maintain the property values.
Well-maintained
Maintaining the resort’s comprehensive facilities is taken very seriously by its management company.
Close to 1 million EUR is spent every two years on their upkeep and this is boosted with considerable additional investment in their extension and enhancement every few years.
As a result of the last big spending round, which occurred between 2000 and 2005 at a cost of 35 million EUR, the resort is now endowed with an enlarged and enhanced promenade, 2 new shopping malls, a new disco and Bulgaria’s first city of water slides and chutes - Aquapolis.
Every watersport imaginable
Golden Sands is a watersport enthusiast’s paradise.
The full gamut of options are available to you on your “beach-step”.
Five centres along the beach offer water and jet skiing, wind surfing, water parachuting and yacht sailing along with pedalos, banana rides, and scuba diving.
With waters as warm as 24oC, falling in will be part of the pleasure, with no sharp shocks for those who put paddling top of their watersports activity list.
An array of alternative activities
Alternative activities include tennis, volleyball, basketball, riding, mini-golf, bowling as well as gym going, bungee jumping and archery.
Or, if your idea of a holiday is more one of relaxation than action, the resort offers the complete range of therapeutic treatments and possesses a number of naturally occurring, healing, hot mineral springs.
Most visitors spend the majority of their time on the beach making the most of the excellent water sports that are available but within the resort there are also a choice of restaurants, bars and a casino.
Beyond the resort
Just 18km away is Varna and its international airport served by a regularly running bus service.
Opening this year, just up the coast around Balchik and Kavarna will be three international golf courses designed by Gary Player and Ian Woosnam, which apart from being a change of scene from the beach will make various resorts along the coast attractive to a whole new public.
Property area and price guide
Strict building controls mean there is less property available within the resort and prices stay high.
Apartments are generally part of large complexes, with the facilities and services you would expect of a hotel.
Due to high occupancy rates during the summer season good rental yields of 6-8% are possible.
Smaller apartment complexes and villas can be found further inland and to the north.
