Over-50s tourism in long-haul markets

More over-50s from Britain are looking to travel to emerging long-haul holiday destinations, it has emerged.
Saga has revealed that British retirees are beginning to hit on the investment potential of long-haul destinations such as South Africa, New Zealand, China and South America.
A company spokesman commented on Saga figures that reveal that ten per cent of people are now considering retiring abroad, noting that improved accessibility through budget airlines and flight routes, warmer climates and cheaper costs of living are encouraging many holidaymakers to opt for long-haul destinations.
Investors with offshore property in emerging markets could benefit from the desire for adventure among over-50s, which according to earlier research by the company is defined as an important feature of a holiday by a third of the age group.
"Having more options about who to fly with and which airport to fly from has encouraged more people to travel long-haul," the spokeswoman said.
