Official calls for upgrades in Brazil

Official calls for upgrades in Brazil

Overseas property investors could be set to benefit from a series of infrastructure improvements in Brazil.

Adalberto Febeliano, executive vice president of the Brazilian Association of General Aviation, stated that four million currently use the country's airports every month, reports AAP.

However, he believes this figure will be much higher by the time Brazil comes to host the World Cup in 2014.

Indeed, he has predicted that monthly passenger numbers will be double the current amount in six years time.

Therefore, Mr Febeliano has called on the aviation industry to invest in improving existing facilities and building new airports across the country.

This would benefit not only those people who are attending the football tournament but also business and leisure travellers who are visiting for other reasons.

Mr Febeliano commented: "We need to modernise our airports and build new airports.

"If we don't, when the World Cup arrives we won't have time to accommodate the passengers."

Despite winning the competition more times than any other nation, Brazil has only hosted it once in its history back in 1950.
