Number of air passengers is growing

More and more people are choosing to fly between different countries, experts have revealed.
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), October saw a 7.7 per cent increase in the number of passengers compared with a year earlier.
Although this was down from 8.2 per cent the previous month, the overall trend was upwards, as shown by the number of people flying overseas for the whole year to date.
IATA stated that for the period between January and November 2007, passenger traffic was 7.3 per cent higher than it had been a year before.
Much of the growth was said to have come from Latin America, suggesting that countries such as Brazil are seeing an upturn in tourism.
Demand for travel to this country will be likely to be especially high in 2014, as it will host the football World Cup in cities such as Rio de Janeiro.
