Brazilian tourist numbers 'set to increase'

Record numbers of holidaymakers are expected to visit Brazil this year, according to official estimates.
The country's tourism institute Embratur said that during the last five years, the number of foreign tourists has risen by 32.6 per cent.
Statistics showed that in 2006, more than five million visitors arrived in Brazil, up from 3.78 million in 2002.
This has led to officials predicting that this year's figure will cross the 5.5 million mark.
Jeanine Pires, president of Embratur, told Arabian Travel News: "That means that Brazil is moving towards a new record in the intake of foreign currency through the visit of foreign tourists."
This could significantly add to its appeal among overseas property investors, as the current rate of growth in the market could prove to be highly lucrative.
Earlier this month, Varig announced that it would soon be launching a new flight from Heathrow Airport to Rio de Janeiro, further enhancing the accessibility of the country to investors.
