Brazil 'becoming more popular with tourists'

Brazil has received a larger number of foreign visitors this year, according to official figures.
Data from tourism institute Embratur showed that more than 552,000 foreign nationals visited the South American country during October 2007.
Citing the figures, Brazzil Mag said this was 15.2 per cent more than the amount recorded during a year earlier.
This has prompted the organisation to predict that the overall number for 2007 as a whole will be up on the previous year.
Figures from Embratur showed that Brazil received 6.4 million foreign arrivals during 2006.
If the number of visiting holidaymakers does go up this year, it will be a positive development for overseas property investors in the country, particularly those who own rental accommodation in popular tourist areas.
The growing popularity of Brazil among foreign investors was recently highlighted by Samuel Lieber of the Alpine International Real Estate Equity Fund in an interview with Bloomberg.
