BA to launch new Brazil service

British Airways (BA) has announced that it is to launch a new service from the UK to Brazil next winter.
The non-stop flights between Heathrow Airport and Rio de Janeiro will reduce the overall journey time by two hours, as it will not go via Sao Paulo.
This could prove to be a significant development for the country's tourist industry, as the quicker flights may make it a more appealing destination for people to consider.
However, BA commercial director Robert Boyle said that although Rio has traditionally been a leisure destination, an increasing number of people are travelling there for work-related activities.
He commented: "South America is a growing market for us as demand for business and leisure travel increases."
According to the SaveBorrowSpend website, Brazil is also becoming more popular with foreign property buyers who want to invest in a long-haul destination.
The new flights could make it a more attractive market for investors to consider, as they will likely lead to greater demand for rental accommodation.
