Investment Property in Brazil
Locations - Rio Grande do Norte
Tourist board promotion
The Brazilian tourist board has made the area of Rio Grande do Norte the focus of a countrywide scheme of promotion and development that began in 2003, and which boosted visitor numbers by 130% in 2004. Rising numbers of tourists to the area also opened it up for property buyers, and as a result some locations in the region, such as the capital Natal, have seen property price growth of 20% per year. The area is undergoing a considerable amount of development and is awaiting the completion of a new airport in 2009.
Safer and cheaper
Flights already operate directly between the UK and Natal, and with property still cheap compared to Europe it is beginning to draw in investors from over the Atlantic. Domestic tourists and property buyers are attracted by this region as an alternative to the traditionally popular destinations of Brazil, such as Sao Paolo, as it has lower crime levels and a lower cost of living.
Beautiful coastline resort
The region has become a popular resort thanks to its year-round sunshine and stunning coastline which stretches for 400km and is dotted with white sand dunes, palm trees and warm azure waters. NASA has found that the air in the Rio Grande do Norte is the cleanest in South America.
Popular with foreign property purchasers
Rio Grande do Norte’s popularity with tourists has translated into real demand for property from overseas purchasers, indeed it is thought that as much as 40% of all new properties sold in the region are bought by foreigners. The region also has a large residential tourism market which creates a reliable demand for accommodation. Rio Grande do Norte is therefore firmly on the map for those looking for investment property in Brazil.
The capital: Natal
Natal is the capital of Rio Grande do Norte and one of the country’s top tourist destinations. The city has a coastal strip that reaches for 8km which houses hotels, restaurants and shopping malls. Similar to the situation in the wider region, the Brazilian government has been pouring investment into Natal since the 1980s, which has resulted in the city becoming a prime location for tourists and property purchasers alike. The city has popular urban beaches such as Ponta Negra, Areia Preta and Meio beach.
